3 Tips For A Healthy Mindset

Many of us believe that being healthy only involves the body, like exercising and eating healthy, but having a healthy mindset will help you crush your goals and help you overcome obstacles.  Being positive will allow you to confidently move in the direction of your goals and dreams.

Here are 3 quick and easy tips you can implement into you day to help you start to build a healthy mindset.  Getting a healthy mindset does not happen overnight.  It is like getting a healthy body, you have to work on it everyday.  Being consistent will help you to reach your healthy body/healthy mindset goals.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people.  Find people that have similar goals as you do.  If you are surrounded by negative people it is hard to stay positive.  If you can’t remove the negative people from your life then try to limit how much you see them.  Listening to podcast on the way to work or at your lunch hour can help you stay positive and learn new things.
  2. Do something that makes you happy.  Each day try to do something that you enjoy doing, even if it is for 10 minutes.  Doing things that make you happy carry over into all aspects of your life.  If you feel happy you will be more positive, you will react to situations differently and you will start to feel better.
  3. Eat healthy. By fueling your body with healthy foods, you are fueling your mind too.  If you don’t believe me try this exercise: for 1 day eat processed foods like chips, candy, frozen meals or even fast food.  How do you feel?  You probably feel tired, crabby, sluggish, not motivation, can’t focus.  Now for 1 day eat healthy food like fruits, veggies, protein, complex carbs (whole wheat bread, oatmeal, brown rice) How do you feel?  You probably feel energetic, motivated, and you feel good about yourself.  Processed foods have chemicals in them that affect your brain in a negative way.  It is easier to be positive, to focus, and to feel good when you are fueling your body with healthy food.

Try these tips out and then let me know how you are feeling.  Having a healthy mind is not something that happens overnight.  It is something you have to consciously work on every day just like exercise and eating healthy.  A few things I do daily to help me with a healthy mindset is: listen to podcasts, eat healthy, exercise, and compliment someone (thank them for helping you or for the great class they taught or how cute their shirt is).
