3 Tips to a healthy holiday season

3 Tips to Keep You On Track During the Holidays

You have worked so hard all year to learn healthy habits, you have set new goals, you have lost weight, gained lean muscle, feel more comfortable in your clothes.  And now the holiday season is upon us!  What are you going to do so you don’t blow all the hard work you have done over this year?  Here are 3 easy tips you can implement this holiday season that will help you stay on track and still enjoy the holidays.  Because enjoying the holidays is what it is all about, your favorite holiday foods, the parties, the food 🙂  Yes, you can enjoy the food and drink and still stay on track with your health goals.

  1. Get in your workouts-This time of year can be busy with more parties and family gatherings to attend but take time to get in a workout.  This will help you burn off some of the extra calories you are consuming plus exercise is a great stress reliever.  If you can’t find time to get in your regular workout, do 15 minutes of something.  Moving your body is better then doing nothing.
  2. Drink water-try to drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day.  Drinking water will help you de-bloat from the extra sodium you may be consuming plus water makes us feel full so you are less likely to reach for the doughnut in the break room.
  3. Eat the Christmas cookie-yup, I am telling you to eat the cookie but not just any cookie your favorite Christmas cookie.  Look at the options and choose the foods you love that you don’t get all the time.  For example: don’t eat a chocolate chip cookie when you can eat those any time of year, reach for the Christmas cookie that you only make during Christmas.  This way you will be satisfied with your treats and not overeat.

Enjoy the holidays!!   (if you want more healthy holiday tips go to www.personaltrainingwithlisa.com and www.bodyworksprescott.com )
