3 Tips to live a longer and healthier life

I have been saying for years that taking care of your body is of utmost importance. Eating healthy, exercising, taking vitamins, getting outside to something everyone needs to be doing yet most people don’t do any of these things. WHY? because your too busy, because you don’t know what to do or is it because you really don’t care about your health and wellbeing? Your probably thinking, “I care”, but if you are eating junk food all the time and sitting on the couch non stop is that caring for your body?

I understand that it is hard to learn how to exercise, it’s hard to lose weight and it is hard to change your habits and lifestyle BUT if you want to be healthy (not skinny-healthy) then you have to be willing to change. If you get a coach that can help you with all of these things it will make it more manageable and might even be fun 🙂

Here are your 3 tips to help you live a longer, healthier life:

  1. Eat your produce. Pick up the veggies and fruit and eat them. If you don’t like fruit or veggies try them in a smoothie. Add extra veggies into your soups or sauces. Try powdered greens to add in extra greens and fiber to your diet. It can take up to 20 times of tasting a food to “get use to” it-so don’t give up. Try cooking your produce a different way to see if you like it better.
  2. Move your body. Exercise does so much more then help with heart health. It keeps your lunges healthy, you burn calories, your body releases endorphins which makes you feel happy. If you are a beginning just start with walking 10 minutes per day. Each week add another 5 minutes on to your time. If you have exercised before then start small and work into it. Find something you like to do and do that. I highly recommend strength training 2-3 days per week because stronger muscles means-less fat, decreased risk of osteoporosis, decreased risk of falling, and much more.
  3. Get your Vitamin D. I have always said people need to take supplements. I have always taken supplements. Why? because we don’t eat all the food we need to get all the vitamins/minerals our bodies need to function efficiently. Plus, farming is much different now then it was 50+ years ago. Our food doesn’t have as much vitamins/minerals in it as it use to. Not only do I think you need Vitamin D but everyone should be taking a multi-vitamin. Why vitamin D-because high levels of vitamin D have been shown to strengthen the immune system and we could all use that now! Personally, I take a multi vitamin with 100% Vitamin D in it and a Vitamin D supplement from October-April. Right now I am continuing to take the extra Vitamin D to make sure I am helping my immune system all I can. This is the Vitamin D I take
