5 Heart Heathy Tips

We are diving in today with a topic that should be near the top of your list-heart health. I’m sharing my 5 favorite tips to keep your heart healthy. Heart health is a broad topic but with chronic disease on the rise 95% of disease is actually due to your lifestyle, which means you are in control and can change it.

Stop pushing it down the road, stop thinking a medicine is going to save you, get off the couch and start taking action. You are in control of your health. If you don’t like how you feel, then change it. The tips I give you are going to be very easy to add into your life.

5 Heart Healthy Tips

  1. Start eating anti-inflammatory foods. Add foods like blueberries, oatmeal and salmon into your diet. Anti-inflammatory foods help reduce the inflammation in your body which can cause heart related diseases.
  2. Walk-after dinner take a 10 minute walk whether it’s outside, around your house or on a treadmill. Walking after a meal helps with the blood sugar spike we get after eating. If you can balance that out after your meal you body will thank you.
  3. Stress less-Chronic stress takes a big toll on your body and heart. Instead of scrolling social media before bed try reading a book, journaling or watching a funny tv show. Laughter has been shown to decreases stress levels and increases your endorphins. Here’s a study from the Mayo Clinic on laughter and stress
  4. Community+support-We learned so much from 2020-2024 like who are friends really are, the people that were called conspiracy theorist were right all along (I’m still waiting for an apology……) and how community DOES keep you alive (us conspiracy theorist knew that all along-apparently we are the smart ones!) So, go find yourself a community. Whether it’s in person or online we need people that support us, help us and teach us.
  5. Supplementation-Eating healthy is very important to your heart health and longevity but no matter how healthy you eat our soil does not have the same nutrients in it that it did years ago. This is why taking high quality vitamins are important. Heart health supplements like a multi-vitamin, Omega-3 and CoQ10 can help your body get in those important minerals/vitamins that our food is lacking.

Those are my top five tips for a healthy heart! I follow all of these myself, and I encourage you to start with one or two and gradually incorporate them all into your routine. Which one will you begin today?
