Can eating MORE food help you LOSE weight?
I sent a poll to my email list asking them what they want support with this year. The choices were: fat loss, hormone balancing, getting stronger or all of the above. The clear winner was all of the above followed by getting stronger, hormone balancing and fat loss. So this year we are going to be deep diving into each of these topics in the hopes that you can find knowledge and support in a digital world that is full of information. If you know me, you know that I don’t beat around the bush-I will break down the information and tell you what it means for you. That way you don’t have to try and figure that out.
I have been a personal trainer and nutrition coach for 18 years. Over those 18 years I have taken thousands of hours of classes and trainings to get specialized in women’s hormone health. I truly enjoy helping others feel better especially when the light clicks for them and they start sleeping better, lifting heavier weights, clothes are getting loose all the while they are eating more food! Wild, I know!
Today we are going to talk about why eating MORE can help you to LOSE. Most women have been eating too few calories for years, by doing this you have trained your body to run on less fuel (calories). Our bodies are smart and adaptable when our body has less fuel to use for years on end it will use that fuel for high priority items like your heart, brain, body functions. Weight loss is NOT one of those functions. So, when you eat less calories your actually training your body to save fat because your body fears it’s not getting enough fuel. I’m pretty sure that’s that the affect you’re after. This is why when I personalize macros/calories for my clients and they start tracking their foods they start to lose weight even though they are eating more food. This happens because you are finally eating the right ratio of foods for your body. You have to make sure you are eating the right amount of carbohydrates, fats, fiber and protein for your body to thrive. Once your body feels safe then it will release the belly fat but until then you are going to consistently be on an uphill battle no matter how much exercise you do.
Once you know your macros then we can manipulate them to reach other goals like build muscle, getting leaner arms, reduce belly fat…etc.
It doesn’t matter what your goal is (fat loss, look more toned, balance hormones) nutrition is 80-85% of that equation so if you keep eating low calories/low carbs and following fad diets you are never going to reach your goal. You have to learn how to eat for your body, your goals and your lifestyle.
