Cutting thru the dieting chaos-blog post

Every time I see these “claims” it makes my eyes roll and I think, “why do people believe these false claims?” But YOU believe them because you want a quick fix. It’s not just you, it’s all of us. It’s human nature to want to take the path of least resistance. But, the path of least resistance in dieting and exercise is not going to get you to your goal, unless your goal is to yo-yo diet, then it might. If you are looking for long term weight loss or to learn how to be healthy these kinds of claims will not help you. They will only hinder you.

In order to learn how to lose weight and keep it off you need to learn new habits and behaviors. You need to learn how to eat in moderation. You need to learn that food is not good or bad-food is fuel for your body. You need to stop having the all or nothing mindset and STOP feeling guilty for what you ate. Learning how to lose weight and keep it off is all about moderation. Depending on how much weight you have to lose it will take 3 months to years to lose weight. Why does it take longer then the 2 weeks advertised above? Because I am teaching you how to change your habits and behaviors that got you to where you are in the first place. The fad diets don’t teach you that. Fad diets just take away foods from you, which is why they work in the short term but not the long term. Generally, people can’t stay for months and years on food restricted diets.

How to find something that will work for you?

Find something that you can do forever. This is a lifestyle change not a diet. Learning how to enjoy veggies and still eat your fav chips is what you want. Learning how to fuel your body so you feel your best is the goal. If you feel good, you will lose weight. If you feel good, you are more inclined to reach for feel good foods.

How to help your willpower?
1. Meal plan and prep! Take 30 minutes to write down your meals for the week. Then write your grocery list according to what you will be eating. Prep any foods you need to prep for the week. Instead of deciding what to eat at 5pm when you are drained from the day you now will just look at your meal plan and eat what is written on there. This is the easiest way for you to stay on track with your goals.
