Dealing with holiday stress
Tips to Dealing with Holiday Stress
The holidays can be a joyous time of year and a stressful time too. Here are some tips that will help you keep the stress at bay so you can enjoy the holidays this year!
- Breathe- When you feel stressed or overwhelmed close your eyes and take 5 slow, even breaths in through your nose and out through your nose. This technique helps to calm your flight/fight response in your body and quite the mind.
- Exercise-you don’t have to do a full 30 minute run on the treadmill, 10 minutes will do. Moving your body helps your mind focus on something else and exercising raised endorphin’s causing you to feel happier when you are done exercising. Go for a walk, do a 10 minute video at home, take a yoga class, climb the stairs at your house.
- Sleep- Feeling rested will help you with handling stress. When you are tired your body can’t handle stress as well as it is already under stress by being tired. Stick to your normal bedtime routine through the holidays.
I hope these tips help you to enjoy the holidays this season.
