Feeling Down?

If you live in the mid west January is usually the season for cold, snowy, grey days. These grey days can make you feel like staying in your house in warm, fluffy sweatpants binge watching your favorite Netflix shows, but that is not always good for your health. So, if you are feeling down here are some tips that might help you:

  1. Vitamin D-our bodies don’t produce vitamin D we need to get it and the easiest way to get it is from sunshine, but since it is grey and cold most of us are Vitamin D deficient in the mid west so taking a vitamin D supplement can help. Click here to learn more about Vitamin D
  2. Exercise-exercise not only helps our body physically, but it also helps us mentally. When you exercise your body releases endorphins which make us feel happy. So, get in 30 minutes per day of a workout and watch the magic happen!
  3. Journal-every day write down 3 things or people you are grateful for. Focusing on what you are grateful for with help you find the positive in your day inside of focusing on the negative.
  4. Talk-talk to someone about how you are feeling. Whether it is a therapist, a friend or your spouse talking can help you feel better and being around other people has shown to help people feel more happy.

I hope this tips can help you make it through this season. And remember, planning a vacation can help too!! 🙂
