There are a lot of ways to make food at home healthier but sometimes you just want to go out to eat AND stay on track with your healthy eating habits. It can be hard to stay on track when eating out. There are so many choices and everything looks good! Here are some tips you can use the next time you go out to a Mexican restaurant:
- Enjoy chips and salsa or tortilla shells with your entree (not both)
- Order fajitas. Eat the veggies and protein and either chips or the tortilla shells
- Order tacos
- A taco salad is a good idea but don’t eat the fried shell
- A lot of restaurants will offer a seafood dish that is a regional specialty
- Look at the entrees. Chicken, steak-find something that is not smothered in cheese
