New Years Goals
How did you do on your 2016 goals? Are you ready to make some new goals for 2017? The hard part with New Years Resolution goals is you make a goal but then that’s it. How are you going to get to that goal? What steps do you need to take to help you reach the goal? Is your goal even reachable? Maybe your goal is a really big goal…..how do you break it down into smaller goals?
Most people have a weight loss goal especially around New Years AND most people make that goal very unreachable. Like losing 30lbs in 1 month…….did you gain those 30lbs in 1 month?? Then don’t expect to lose them in 1 month either. Here are some quick tips to help you set your goal and reach it!
- Set a reasonable goal. People can usually lose 1-3lbs per week. Sometimes more depending on how much weight you have to lose.
- Write down action steps that will help you reach that goal. Example: walk for 30 minutes 3 times a week, lift weights 2 days per week. Stick to my meal plan….etc Writing down the steps that will help you reach the goal makes the process easier because you know what you need to do to reach the goal.
- Pick a prize. Decide what your prize is going to be when you reach your goal. Some ideas that are popular with my clients: massages, new workout clothes, mani/pedi…etc. Choose non-food related rewards.
