Ninja Creami Tips
I finally caved and bought a Ninja Creami. I’m here to tell you all those bloggers are WRONG! Most alternative milk doesn’t work in the creami. I mean it works, but don’t think it’s going to be ice cream. Let’s set the record straight on what actually works and what gives you a melty, icy mess 😂.
There has been a big learning curve with this machine. I bought it because so many bloggers said that alternative milk work and turns out like ice cream……I’m not sure what they think ice cream is but nope almond milk is a BIG miss.
What works the best-canned coconut milk. If you can’t have dairy, use canned coconut milk and follow the recipe in the instruction manual. The coconut milk ice cream turns out like soft serve ice cream and it’s delicious. You can add mix-in’s to this ice cream.
I have also tried oat milk, cashew milk, almond milk and non-diary heavy whipping cream (made with coconut milk+almond milk). Almond milk does not work. It turns out very icy and melty. The only way I got almond milk to sort of work is adding protein powder to the base. It was still icy but not quite as bad.
Cashew milk also turns out icy, so I added peanut butter to it and it works great. The alternative milks (besides coconut milk) need more fat in them to make them creamy like ice cream. Adding peanut butter to the oat milk and the cashew milk makes it creamy.
Oat milk on it’s own is icy. I added Xantham gum to it and it make it less icy and more creamy. I also add peanut butter to it and it was more like ice cream.
A lot of bloggers will tell you to use Fairlife milk so we tried that but that did NOT sit well with my gut. I know it’s lactose free so it should have been fine but it wasn’t 😂. It did make creamy ice cream though.
Next up I found premium milk that I’m going to try. Since I can eat regular ice cream as long as it’s high quality-I figured I would try that. Stay tuned to see how that turns out.
If you can’t tolerate dairy, stick with the coconut milk in the Ninja Creami to have the best exprience. If you use almond milk or oat milk just know it doesn’t turn out like ice cream so adjust your expectations.
