Turkey Taco Burgers
We got a flat top grill and we have been trying different recipes on it. There is a bit of a learning curve to using the flat top grill. If you have cooked on a cast iron it is similar to that in the sense that you need to add fat to it if the meat you are cooking is not fatty.
We generally eat very lean meat so we add fat (butter, avocado oil or ghee) to the flat top when grilling. I adapted this recipe from one I found online. Here’s my version:
1 package of ground turkey
Avocado oil
taco seasoning
guacamole
salsa
sour cream
lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions
shredded cheese
soft shells (I use Siete Almond Flour tortillas)
Put your ground turkey in a bowl, add in 1-2 TBSP avocado oil and your taco seasoning. Mix it with your hands. Form 8 small balls of the same size.
Cut your peppers and onions
Heat your grill. Once grill is hot put some avocado oil on it and then add your onions and peppers. When onions and peppers are almost done put your turkey burger balls on the grill and smash them down so they are very thin. They cook in about 90 seconds-2 minutes per side.
When the taco burgers are done put them in a tortilla shell with grilled veggies and your choice of toppings.
